What’s impressive about Roseville is the amount of history that has been documented by Leonard “Duke” Davis, who many people consider the foremost authority of the history of this city. The population of the Maidu rapidly dropped through the tragedy of diseases and the Maidu people being forcibly removed from their homelands. Despite this, Maidu descendants currently live in Placer County and still celebrate many of the traditions of their past elders.
Now, moving towards the 1850s gold rush, many people flocked to the area to find gold. The land that encompassed Roseville was ignored at first because the land was thought to be devoid of gold.
